Our Propane System

We chose to use propane in our van, though many others opt not to, because we enjoy cooking with gas burners. To ensure safety, we use proper ventilation through our fan, skylight, and window. Our propane tank is also routed to the back of the van, where it powers our instant hot water shower.

We use one 20-pound propane tank stored in a propane locker beneath the sink. To create the locker, we lined the cabinet with weather-stripping insulation tape and widened the gray water hose hole to allow any leaking propane (which is heavier than air) to vent safely. For your own setup, we recommend working with a local supply house to build your propane lines with the correct connectors and pressure regulators.
